Comet Talk: Navajo Bridge - Challenging Nature's Barriers to Transportation
There are actually two bridges crossing the Colorado River in Marble Canyon. They had serious but very different challenges to their construction. The 1929 bridge needed a road just to get to it and the 1995 bridge needed agreement from many stakeholders. This presentation describes how and why each bridge was built with historic photographs of both construction projects.

Presenter Tom Martin is a local historian, author, and river runner specializing in the Colorado Plateau, the Grand Canyon and Colorado River History. He published the book about Navajo Bridge on which this presentation is based, providing research and support to author Jerry Cannon who was the design engineer for the project.
